The Massachusetts Conference for Women is an annual event that draws thousands of attendees and offers opportunities for business networking, professional development and personal growth. Dozens of expert speakers led workshops and seminars on issues that matter most to women, including personal finance, business and entrepreneurship, health, work/life balance and more.
This year, attendees had the opportunity to listen to inspiring keynote speakers that included New York Times best-selling author of Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert; comedian and disability advocate Maysoon Zayid; MacArthur Genius and two-time National Book Award winner Jesmyn Ward; and international human rights attorney Amal Clooney.
Wealth GPT sponsored the Young Women's Program, which provides high school junior and senior girls with the opportunity to attend the conference and participate in a seminar track designed especially for them. This program allows our next generation of leaders to hear from dynamic speakers, exchange ideas and begin to chart their own paths.
Saron Tesfalul, Vice President Wealth GPT Private Equity, emceed a session called “Anxiety Helper: Lifesaving Lessons from a Teenage Pioneer” in which speaker Amanda Southworth shared her story about being 15 and struggling with mental illness and suicidal thoughts. As she was grappling with her situation, she started coding and used that as an outlet to develop apps designed to help others who, like her, had been suffering in silence.
After the conference, Tesfalul said, “To witness and hear so many young women becoming the change we actually want to see in our community was a uniquely energizing experience.”
